Notice of Municipal Budget Adoption

Pursuant to Section 290 of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of West Elgin intends to adopt the 2019 Municipal Budget at the Regular Council Meeting on May 23, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers located at 22413 Hoskins Line, Rodney, ON.

The proposed 2019 Budget is available for review at the Municipal Office or by clicking here

Notice of Public Meeting

Pursuant to Section 4(6) of the Retail Holidays Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of West Elgin is in receipt of an application requesting the passage of a by-law to exempt Natterjack Brewery Company Ltd., located at 25292 Talbot Line, West Lorne ON, under Section 4(6) of the Retail Holidays Act, R.S.O., 1990 to permit the brewery retail store to be open on the following Statutory Holidays: Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day and Thanksgiving Day.

In accordance with the Retail Holidays Act, R.S.O. 1990, a public meeting will be held on May 23, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers located at 22413 Hoskins Line, Rodney ON.  Municipal Council will hear representations from the public with respect to the above noted exemption request.  If you prefer to provide written comments on this matter, please submit your comments to Genevieve Scharback, CAO/Clerk no later than 12 noon on May 17, 2019.  The proposed by-law is available for review at the Municipal Office or by clicking here.

Take Notice that any person may, not later than thirty days after the day the by-law is passed by council, object to the by-law under Section 4 of the Retail Holidays Act, to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal by filing a notice of appeal with the Tribunal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons in support of the objection.  Notices of Appeal must be submitted to the Clerk by 4:00 p.m. on June 24, 2019.

Spring Yard Waste Pick Up

The Municipality will be picking up Leaf and Yard Waste in the Residential Areas of West Lorne and Rodney on May 13, 2019 & May 27, 2019

• Please have Leaves bagged in Clear or Paper Yard Material Bags
• Tie Brush into bundles; the branches must be less than 1 metre (39 inches) in length and each branch less than 10 centimetres (4 inches) in diameter
• All materials must be curbside by 7:00 am on day of pick up.
No Burning of Leaves in Residential Areas

Conservation Areas Open Mid-May for Camping Season

Nearby and natural, LTVCA conservation areas offer family and group camping in a variety of settings. Experience Carolinian forests and wooded ravines, the Lake Erie shoreline, a heritage river or cultural sites!

Four conservation areas located throughout the lower Thames watershed and region are open with family, group or seasonal camping depending on the site, May 17 until Thanksgiving Monday. Our campgrounds offer great value and an opportunity to experience Southwestern Ontario’s unique natural and cultural settings.

Spring Large Item Collection

Spring Large Item Collection

Monday May 6th, 2019

Residents of the Villages of West Lorne and Rodney will be given the opportunity to dispose of Large Items that cannot be set out during regular Garbage and Recycling collection days.

Village Residents – Please have any lose items bundled/packaged together and at the curb by 7:00 a.m.

Please follow these rules:

1.               No recyclables or household garbage will be collected on this day

2.               No grass clippings, leaves or garden refuse

3.               No construction materials

4.               No hazardous waste

5.               No liquids

6.               Appliances and/or equipment with refrigerant will not be accepted unless a qualified technician has removed the liquids and tagged the item

7.               No bio-medical waste

8.               No sharps (syringes, lancets)

9.               No crates or pallets

10.              No combustible or explosive materials

11.              No automobile parts

Hydrant Flushing

Please run your water for several minutes until the water clears.

Waste Collection in West Lorne for Thursday, March 28th, will be delayed until the afternoon. Collection should begin around 1:00 p.m. Recycling pick-up is running on time.
