Inaugural Council Meeting - December 3, 2018

All are welcome as the Municipality of West Elgin holds its Inaugural Council meeting in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Office on Monday December 3, 2018 at 7:00 PM. 

The inauguration will include the oaths of office for the new and returning members of Council with a reception to follow.

Following the inaugural meeting the members of West Elgin Council for the 2018-2022 term of office will be:

West Lorne Santa Claus Parade - Friday, November 30, 2018

The West Lorne Santa Claus Parade will be hosted on Friday, November 30th, 2018 at 7 p.m. Theme: Stars and Stockings. Hosted by the Optimist Club of West Lorne. Parade line-up begins at 5 p.m. at Erie Flooring parking lot, Jane Street, West Lorne. Judging of floats and entries at 6 p.m. sharp. Categories : best commercial, best service club, best church group, best youth group, best decorated for theme, best antique car, best horse and rider. For more information or to register your entry, please call Optimist Marsha Kalita at 519-497-9457 or email marshavernon@hotmail.com Be sure to bring your non-perishable food donation to the parade to be placed in the shopping carts along the parade route for our local food banks. Free skating will also be available. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. starting at Gilbert and Graham streets and will head south through town to the West Elgin Arena where Santa will stop and visit with the children.

West Elgin Outstanding Youth Award Winners

West Elgin Council presented the West Elgin Outstanding Youth Award at the Council meeting on November 22, 2018.

West Lorne Garbage Service Disruption

Waste Connection has informed West Elgin that due to truck issues West Lorne Garbage will not be picked up today (2018-11-22).  Pick up will be completed tomorrow.  However recycling pick up will continue as usual.  If you have any questions please contact the Municpal Office at 519-785-0560.

Notice to Residents in West Elgin
The Municipality will be picking up Leaf and Yard Waste in the Residential Areas of West Lorne and Rodney on November 19, 2018 & December 3, 2018.

  • Please have Leaves bagged in Clear or Paper Yard Material Bags.
  • Tie Brush into bundles; the branches must be less than 1 metre (39 inches) in length and each branch less than 10 centimetres (4 inches) in diameter.
  • All materials must be curbside by 7:00 am on day of pick up.

No Burning of Leaves in Residential Areas

Service Ontario Disruption- October 19-22 / 2018

Service Ontario will be closed on Friday October 19,2018 and Monday October 22, 2018.  It will re open on Tuesday October 23, 2018.
