Having a kennel in West Elgin
You need a kennel licence permit if you have more than 3 dogs, plan on breeding dogs, or are boarding dogs.
We inspect kennels in our Municipality every year.
Getting a kennel licence
We will issue your kennel licence permit after you have completed these steps:
- Submitting a kennel licence application;
 - Having our Animal Control Officer inspect your kennel;
 - Having our Planner approve your property zoning;
 - Having our Chief Building Official approve your kennel facility;
 - Paying our kennel permit fee.

You must renew your application and pay the $200.00 fee at the beginning of each year. We accept payment by debit, cash, or cheque at the Municipal Office or by leaving payment in our drop-box beside the front door.
Kennel Inspection Checklist
Kennel inspections must be completed annually by the Animal Officer and/or the By-Law Officer and with the Kennel Inspection Checklist.
