There are several payment options for you to pay your property taxes, water bills or other invoices from the Municipality of West Elgin.

Pre-Authorized Payments

Fill in the preauthorized payment plan form to set up a payment plan for your taxes. You can also use this form to pay for water and sewer bills. You can pick this form up in person at the front counter at the Municipal Office.

Pay online 

You may be able to pay your taxes water bills, and other invoices through internet banking. 

 Steps for Internet Banking 
  1. Open your bank's secure website or mobile app, here are a few links to some common banks: 
    • Royal Bank of Canada
    • Bank of Montreal
    • Scotia Bank
    • Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)
    • National Bank of Canada
    • Simplii Financial
    • TD Canada Trust
    • HSBC
  2. Add a the Municipality of West Elgin as a Payee:
    • search "West Elgin" or "Municipality of"
    • select "West Elgin Municipality of" or "Municipality of West Elgin"
    • Payee names differ for select banks and for what type of bill your are paying for
      • If you use the Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotia Bank) or Royal Bank (RBC) or Credit Union:
        • select Taxes, Water, AR, or other/general
      • Other Banks
        • Choose water/utilities or taxes
        • If you are paying for other accounts, you must select water/utilities and nickname it 
  3. Add a tag or nickname after the Payee Name is selected
    • such as: taxes for 123 Street, water bill, landfill, dog tag for Lucky, trailer park
  4. Enter your Account Number:
    • For tax bill payments it is your 19-digit Roll Number (starting with 34-34-...)
    • For water bill payments it is your 9-digit Account Number or Customer Number (starting with 001.. or 100.. or 200..)
    • For Port Glasgow Trailer Park Payments it is your 9-digit Customer Number (starting with 007..)
    • For dog tag payments it is your 9-digit Customer Number (starting with 003.. or 900..)
    • For other invoices it is your 9-digit Account Number or Customer Number
    • if you do not know your account number, please call the office at 519-785-0560 so that we may assist you
  5. Save the confirmation page.
  6. Please allow 2-3 business days (Monday to Friday, excluding holidays) for payments to be processed.

 NOTE: If you have more than one account in your name, you must add each individual account to your Payee List separately. 

For example: if you own three different properties, you must add each property separately, using their individual Roll Numbers, to your Payee List.

Pay by phone

You may be able to pay your accounts by phone through telephone banking. Contact your bank for details.

Pay in-person

You can pay in person and drop off post-dated cheques by visiting the front counter at the Municipal Office. There is also a secure drop box for post-dated cheques and cash beside the front door of the Municipal Office.

You can also sign up for electronic billing by filling out the Ebilling Form.
