FIRE BAN LIFTED – ELGIN COUNTY
(August 18, 2025) – Effective immediately, the fire ban has been lifted in the City of St. Thomas, Town of Aylmer, and the Townships and Municipalities within the County of Elgin.
Residents may now enjoy open-air and recreational fires in accordance with their local municipal Open-Air Burning By-Laws. This includes bonfires, campfires, burn barrels, outdoor fireplaces/chimineas, and other open-air fires.
All burn permits are now reinstated, and new permits may once again be issued where applicable.
We thank residents for their cooperation during the fire ban, which helped keep our communities safe during the period of extreme dryness.
Please remember to burn responsibly:
•Always follow municipal by-laws and permit conditions
•Keep suppression tools and water nearby
•Never leave a fire unattended
•Make sure fire is fully extinguished before leaving the burn site
For further information or specific burning requirements, please check your municipality’s website, social media, or contact your local fire department.
