The 2020 Citizenship Award 

If you know if an upstanding citizen in your community nominate them today. 

One winner will be selected from the following categories: 

Grades 7-10 (JR) 

Grades 11-12 (Youth)

New Citizen Award ( up to five years new to the community) 

Adult (18 plus) 

Senior (60 plus) 

To qualify, the nominee must be an active volunteer in the community ( volunteer work must be done in the last year) and they must be a resident (or former resident)...

Cancellation of Large Item Collection

Due to COVID-19, Waste Connections will be unable to provide curbside collection for Large Items in 2020.  West Elgin residents can take their items to the landfill free of charge at this time. 

Cancellation of August Civic Holiday Fireworks

August Civic Holiday Fireworks Cancelled 

Due to COVID-19 and concerns for public safety, the fireworks display that traditionally takes place at the Port Glasgow Marina on the August Civic Holiday Weekend have been cancelled for 2020. 

Canada Day 2020

The Municipality of West Elgin takes the health of residents and visitors seriously during the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic.  As such at this time we feel it is in the best interest of public health to cancel the 2020 Canada Celebration that is traditionally held in Miller Park.  We look forward to hosting a wonderful Celebration of Canada’s Birthday in 2021!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE CANADA EMERGENCY RESPONSE BENEFIT (CERB)

- Who have stopped working because of COVID-19 or are eligible for Employment Insurance regular or sickness benefits;
