Municipality of West Elgin acknowledges Councillor Dougherty’s contributions as she steps down from Council.

The Mayor and Council of the Municipality of West Elgin accepted a resignation notice from Councillor Heather Dougherty during the closed session of the March 27, 2025, Council Meeting.

Councillor Dougherty was appointed to the Ward 3 seat on November 14, 2024. She has actively supported the community through her participation in the Rodney Fair Board, Port Glasgow Trailer Park committee, and the Recreation committee.

Mayor Leatham thanks Councillor Dougherty for her willingness to step into the position and for the compassion she brought to her role as a public leader.

With Councillor Dougherty’s departure, Mayor Leatham and council will review options for filling the position in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, while upholding the values and priorities that guide their work.

The Municipality of West Elgin extends its gratitude to Councillor Dougherty for her service. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors, confident that her contributions will continue to support and benefit our community.
